Beta terms

Extra terms for the TestFlight build. Free, unfinished, and your work carries over when it ends.

What the beta is

Dents.co is in TestFlight with a small group of PDR technicians, collision estimators and adjusters. You are here to use it on real jobs and tell us where it is wrong. These terms sit on top of our Terms and Privacy notice, and they win wherever they conflict.

Who can take part

You need an iPhone 12 Pro or later. The LiDAR sensor is the instrument, so an iPhone without one has nothing for the app to read. An iPad Pro with LiDAR works too.

Your invitation is yours. TestFlight ties it to the email address you gave us, and seats are limited because we read every piece of feedback that comes back.

It is pre-release software

This build is unfinished on purpose. Expect measurements that miss, prices that look wrong, screens that stall and the occasional crash. Finding those is the job.

Check any number you intend to bill against your own judgment before it reaches a customer. Plenty of testers do bill from beta estimates, and the branded PDF supports it, but the responsibility for what you quote stays with you.

What it costs

Nothing, for as long as the beta runs. Every paid feature is switched on: unlimited scans and repair orders, your own shop identity on the estimate PDF with no watermark, and your labor rate and pricing curve in the math. No card, and no subscription starts on its own when the beta ends.

Your scans and your data

The beta handles your data the same way the released app does. Your scans, measurements and repair orders stay on your device. In the background, when you have a connection, the app also sends a backup copy of them to our servers, with customer names removed. Your settings and estimate PDFs are not included.

We use that backup only to improve the measurement engine, the pricing model and the app. Our team can view it in an internal admin tool for that purpose. Diagnostic exports and feedback reports reach us only when you choose to send them. Our Privacy Notice has the details.

Because the build is pre-release, keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export the estimate PDF.

Feedback

Shake the phone to open a report. It goes to the people writing the code, not to a ticket queue.

Anything you tell us about the app, we can use to build it, without owing you payment, credit or confidentiality. That covers bug reports, suggestions and any measurement you send for us to check against your own reading. It does not give us rights to your customer records or your shop's pricing.

Keep the build to yourself

Apple's TestFlight rules and ours agree here: do not redistribute the build, and do not pass your invitation to someone else. If a coworker needs a seat, write to beta@dents.co and we will add them.

Showing a customer an estimate you made with it is fine. That is what it is for. Publishing screenshots of unreleased screens is not.

We can change or end it

We may push builds that change or remove features, pause the program, or end a seat that has gone unused. TestFlight builds also expire on their own ninety days after we upload them, which is Apple's rule rather than ours. When one expires, install the next build.

When the beta ends

Your dents, repair orders and rate settings carry over to the released app. Nothing is wiped.

The TestFlight build stops working and you move to the App Store version, where the free tier limits apply unless you subscribe. We will tell you before that happens, and beta testers hear about it first.
